Georgian And Azerbaijan Sites Were Attacked By Hackers

The Georgian and Azerbaijan sites were attacked by hackers during the South Ossetia War in 2008. The South Ossetia war is also called as Russia-Georgia war. A series of cyber attacks disabled websites of numerous Georgian, Russian, Azerbaijan, and South Ossetian organizations. The attacks include Distributed Denial of Services (DDoS) on many Georgian websites. The Georgian government websites were attacked by Russian hackers.

The Russian hackers also attacked on some news portal and news websites in Azerbaijan. The president site of Georgian and some commercial websites were also attacked by Russian hackers. The internet users have been unable to access some Georgian government websites since august 8, 2008. The Armenian websites were attacked by Azerbaijan hackers in 2008.

The security investigators from the United States Computer Response Readiness Team (US-CERT) monitored these attacks. The Russian based server controlled all traffic to Georgia's key servers and the Georgian country websites gone under external control.
