Tips on Looking after Your Towels

Towels are important clothing item in the hospitality industry. While buying these towels for the hotels, make sure that you buy some quality towels such that you will give a better treat to your hotel guests as well as you will get best return on investment for your business. To get the return on investment for your business, you have to buy better quality towels as well as you have to take care of your towels.

Following are tips for maintenance of towels:
  • The first and the foremost thing is to prefer for a cotton towels. The quality of these towels is measured in terms of threads. It is calculated by the number of threads in the cloth within a certain area and can range from 200-300 threads (high quality). 
  • The more number of thread counts in a cloth refers that the cloth is higher quality, softer and durable.
  • Buy the cloth towels which has higher thread count because it absorbs more water and it doesn't suffer from piling which resulting a towel softer and comfortable. 
  • Choose towels which are tightly packed loops than the double stitched ones. Heavier towels are also better to choose because they too absorb more water.

Now comes using a towel. A towel is said to be quality when the towel remains in the same condition (newly purchased one) after several washes. However, after several washes any towel can fade if it is properly not maintained.
  • Read labels before washing of the towels.
  • It is better to wash your towels for 1 or 2 times in plain water before using them because all new towels will shed a little excess fiber at first.
  • When you are washing your towels, separate dark colored ones with light colored ones otherwise the white colored towels become colored or get stained.
  • Do not use excess detergents, soap or liquid soaps on these towels because the fibers can get weakened.
  • Never bleach your towels.
  • After washing towels, do not over dry towels because they will become hard and stiff. 
  • Ironing is not needed but if want then iron the towel on a medium cotton setting.
  • Then store them in a dry place.
