In traditional shopping the customer can see the product physically and the payment can be done through cash or cheque or credit cards. In online shopping the customer can make the purchases through browsing internet by sitting at home and the online shopping provides many benefits like it saves time and the money, is more convenient, provides a wide range of items, etc.,

The online and the retail shopping strives for satisfying the customer and there are several points for the customer to decide for:


Time:

Time needed for finding the right product to purchase is shorter when buying online for the customer but it takes longer time in retail shopping to search for the product.

Price:

In retail shopping it is difficult for the customer to compare the prices as he has to go from shop to shop but in online shopping it is easy as the user can browse through different websites and find the best offer.

Quality:

Quality of the products purchased through internet can't be checked. When talking about clothes, problems arise when they do not fit the consumer.

Distance:

Know About Online Auction And Its Types

The online auction is a process where the items are sold on the internet, all the auctions are not same and there are also some risks involved in the online auctions. It is also very important for the people who want to participate in the online auctions to make sure the sort of the auction and the rules, rights and responsibilities the participants have. The participants should take appropriate steps to minimize the risks.

Marketplace online auctions:
In these virtual markets a business sets up a website in which the buyers and the sellers from different groups deals directly with each other and make the market work. In this the business running the websites offer their own products for the auctions and it has many forms like
  • Low bid auctions: In this the participant with lowest unique bid wins the auction.
  • High bid auctions: The highest bid wins the auction.
  • Beat the clock auctions: In this type of auction each new bid increases the auction duration, with the highest bidder at the end of the auction winning.
  • Reverse auctions: The role of the buyer and seller are reversed where there are more number of sellers and less number of buyers, sellers compete for the sale of their product.

Know About Privacy Policy and Internet Shopping's Regulations

Customer gets himself into risk while using internet because of unsolicited emails, or spam. Actually spams are common marketing tools, but sellers may loose the potential customer by using them. But they are used as the means of communication or advertising a promotional offer with out customers' permission.

Sometimes customer get many spam mails in a day, so they may cause to loose the right of privacy of the individual or receiver. There is another problem with spam, that they have possibility of getting virus attached.


The problem: If the e-mail address is published on the internet, or link on website, or on contacts pages, then starts the arrival of large number of unsolicited emails. There is a difficulty to uphold the privacy in this case.


For this, there are set of regulations entitled as Privacy and Electronic communications Regulation, which includes issues like SMS marketing and privacy and unsolicited email.


Regulations: This Privacy and Electronic Regulations try to ensure that any company using unsolicited emails, that are clearly identifiable, should be clear from the subject line of the email or SMS, that the communication is commercial. Such communication should relate to advertising or promotion of the item. According to regulations, the name of the intended recipient in the email, identity and contact details of the sender must be included by the sender of the commercial communication.


Sender of the email must provide recipient with a valid email address, so that they can contact to cease the unsolicited marketing communications, according to regulations. Before sending any such commercial communications, sender must get permission from recipient to get such communications.


These are the factors mentioned in these Privacy and Electronic Regulations. So it is better to know about these regulations.

How to Cancel an Order

People make an order for products through online, but sometimes they need to cancel that order which was already placed.

When you make cancellation request within 24 hours of placing an order then only cancellation will be considered. Otherwise request will not be considered or accepted by merchant, if the order is under the process of delivery with vendor.

Many companies handle orders through e-mail but cancellations cannot be handled through the e-mails. So, you should make a call to the company to make cancellation if you want to cancel the order. You should have order information and credit-card number, when you make a call to the company to cancel the order. You should not send your credit-card number through e-mail.
Necessary information about return should be provided by every company.

Before placing an order online
You should understand the return policies of a company before ordering the item. There may be restocking fees in companies specially for electronic goods. Read the return and shipping policies and then make sure whether you want to make an order, before placing an order. Because return process can be time consuming, and costly, and it is a problem.

In case there is any damage or the quality of the product or if it is not good then only cancellation will be considered. As soon as you get those products, you can report the issue to customer care through feedback section.

There are some exceptions for cancellation.
  • a. Cancellation will not be considered for some products which are listed under special events and promotions.
  • b. For some perishable items cancellation will not be considered when products have been already delivered, such as flowers, eatables, etc.
When the merchant checks and determines that there is damage then the request can be considered.
