Factors that Determine the Quality of the Cotton Fabric

Cotton is a familiar kind of fabric which is used by many of the people all over the world. There are few factors which makes it unique from the rest of the textiles. The durability of cotton is high and it is available in almost all colors. However, the performance of the fabric depends upon the quality of the fabric. So, in order to know the quality of the fabric, we need to be aware of few factors which makes the cotton fabric of high quality.

  • Color or the degree of Whiteness: Generally the cotton which is produced from the plant is white in color. Once the fabric is made with that cotton, before dying it should have the same whiteness. The more whiter the fabric, the better the quality of the cotton fabric is. It is tough to find this parameter for a colored fabric however, while purchasing white colored cotton clothes you can use this technique to select the best.
  • Length of the thread: Length of the thread used to weave that particular fabric also determines the quality of the fabric. High quality cottons only produce lengthy fibers or yarns and hence the more longer the thread in the fabric, the more higher the quality of the cotton fabric.
  • Fineness of the fiber : And finally the fine quality of the fabric. The fineness of the fabric can be tested by simply touching the fabric. If you feel it is soft and smooth and is having a unique texture you can feel like having a high quality fabric. So, the next time you are going to buy cotton clothes make sure they are having all these qualities so that you can get a good quality one.
