Information About the Accident Notification System

The traffic accidents are the leading causes of fatalities in US. After an accident occurs, the time taken for the medical personnel to reach the spot is very large and this is leading to many on-spot deaths. The approach to eliminate the delay between the accident and the first response dispatched is to use in-vehicle automatic accident detection and notification system. This system senses when the traffic accident occurs and immediately notifies the emergency personnel. However, these are not available in all the cars and it is also expensive to retrofit it for the older cars.

What the system includes?
This system basically includes the satellite communication, or hand-free cell phone link, with a GPS navigation system.

The system serves two purposes. The first one is to detect the accidents and to transmit the alert signals and information, immediately as the accident occurs. The other is to receive the signal alerts and information and to display them to the driver.

How it works?
When the driver or car undergo an accident, it calls the manufacturers cell link service, which then calls the emergency responders. Based on the GPS coordinates they can be able to find the location of the car/accident. It also gives more advanced version feed information from the car sensors to the link service, including whether the air bags are activated or not and also what exactly the car operational status is, etc.

There are three main players which work together through geographic information network. They are - M2M device i.e. the automobile incorporating mobile to mobile (the GSM/GPS modem with a crash detector), the emergency organizations and the mobile operator.

Accident notification system, though expensive is very much useful in saving valuable lives of people.
