The Run-flat tires Technology in Car

The run flat tires are self-supporting tires, these are designed to work for short period when your tire get punctured. So no need of worrying when your tire get puncture in dark night or on a cold then also you should safe and able to drive your home or to your nearest garage to change  if you maintain certain speed. This tires also reduce the dangers like tire blow out which is due to their unique construction.

These run flat tires are manufactured with reinforced sidewalls. It has tough rubber inside it that temporarily holds the weight of your car even after getting puncture allows you to drive for some distance by reducing the speed. But the normal tires are different they will not hold once you get your tire punctured then they get collapse, because normally car is supported by air inside the tire.

The run flat tires have the additional lateral strengthening that ensure the tire will maintain it shape and bear the weight of the vehicle as it form without air pressure.

Usually this run flat tire gives a chance to drive even after your tire suffering from puncture, of course, you cannot drive it forever but you can able to drive and it will depend upon variables like load of your vehicle, driving speed of the car, and driving conditions. For example, 240 kilometers with light load, 150 with medium load and 50 with heavy load.

You should not mix the run flat tires with normal tires unless it is an emergency, and should  replace as soon as possible with run flat tire. It is recommended not to mix different run flat technologies.
